A furniture collection for Stockholm Furniture Fair 2009, Green house.
A zabuton (座布団) is a Japanese cushion for sitting. The zabuton is generally used when sitting on the floor and may also be used when sitting on a chair. Zabuton is a product of the past and a part of traditional architecture and room. Today, most of houses in Japan have adopted the Western architecture and use tables and chairs instead of sitting on floor. However, it is still quite common to have zabutons at home and it is used in various ways and places in every household. I was inspired by people’s need of remembrance of past and zabutons representation of comfort and nostalgia despite the constant aspiration for the Western living.
